Team expert PT Geo Labora Indonesia successfully completed the Geotechnical Study for Open-Pit Mining for PT Amanah Batu Alam Persada, located in Jabuk Village, Mataraman District, Banjar Regency, South Kalimantan Province. This project was carried out to support the implementation of safe and efficient mining operations in accordance with national geotechnical regulations and Good Mining Practice principles. The assignment further strengthened the role of PT Geo Labora Indonesia as a strategic technical partner that provides scientifically engineered solutions to ensure the sustainability and safety of mining activities.

The scope of work encompassed a comprehensive geotechnical investigation involving both surface and subsurface assessments. Field activities included geotechnical mapping, structural geology identification, and measurement of actual slope geometry, as well as full-coring geotechnical drilling to obtain representative rock and soil samples from the mining area. All core samples were then delivered to the laboratory for a complete series of physical and mechanical testing. The resulting dataset served as a fundamental basis for numerical modeling and slope stability analysis.

Slope stability analysis was performed under multiple scenarios—including actual, mine design, and redesign conditions—using a push back analysis approach to determine a safe and economically viable staged mining progression. Numerical simulations were conducted to determine the factor of safety for the highwall, lowwall, sidewall, and waste-dump areas. Based on the analytical outputs, PT Geo Labora Indonesia expert team developed technical recommendations for optimal slope geometry, including bench height, bench width, bench face angle, and overall slope angle, along with safe push-back sequencing. The recommendations were accompanied by geotechnical risk-mitigation strategies and monitoring guidelines to ensure safe operational implementation.

Through the execution of this project, PT Geo Labora Indonesia expert team delivered substantial added value to PT Amanah Batu Alam Persada by enhancing mining safety performance, reducing geotechnical risk throughout the mining progression, optimizing slope design for operational efficiency, and ensuring compliance with national geotechnical standards. The successful completion of this assignment further reinforced PT Geo Labora Indonesia’s reputation as a provider of integrated mining geotechnical services—covering field investigation, laboratory testing, numerical modeling, and engineering-based geotechnical design recommendations ready for direct application in mining operations.
