PT PANDU ADI DAYA INDONESIA GEOTECHNICS ANALYSIS

PT Geo Labora Indonesia expert team successfully completed the previous work with Geotechnical Study for Open-Pit Coal Mining for PT Wahyu Eka Perkasa, located in Raren Batuah and Dusun Tengah Districts, Barito Timur Regency, Central Kalimantan Province, Indonesia. The project was undertaken as part of the company’s commitment to ensuring safe and reliable mining operations through geotechnical governance aligned with Good Mining Practice and regulatory requirements. This engagement further demonstrated the strategic role of expert team PT Geo Labora Indonesia in supporting sustainable and safe mining activities through scientifically-based geotechnical engineering solutions.

The scope of work covered both surface and subsurface geotechnical investigations, which included geotechnical surface mapping, identification of structural geological features, measurement of actual slope geometry within the mining area, and full-coring geotechnical drilling to obtain representative rock and soil samples. All core samples collected during field investigations were transferred to accredited laboratories for physical and mechanical testing to determine key geotechnical parameters. The compiled dataset formed the technical foundation for subsequent modeling and numerical analysis of slope stability.

Slope stability analyses were then performed under multiple scenarios—including actual mining conditions, design scenarios, and redesign simulations—through the application of a push back analysis approach to determine a safe and economically feasible mining progression strategy. The modeling evaluated the factor of safety for the highwall, lowwall, sidewall, and waste-dump slope zones throughout each stage of mining advancement. Based on these analytical findings, expert team PT Geo Labora Indonesia prepared engineering recommendations outlining optimized slope geometry specifications, including bench height, bench width, bench face angle, overall slope angle, and staged push-back sequencing. The recommendations also included risk-mitigation measures and geotechnical monitoring strategies to support safe implementation during mining operations.

Through this project, PT Geo Labora Indonesia expert team provided significant added value to PT Wahyu Eka Perkasa by improving operational safety, optimizing slope stability throughout mining progression, reducing the risk of slope failure, and ensuring full compliance with national mining geotechnical standards. The successful completion of this assignment further reinforced PT Geo Labora Indonesia’s standing as a reliable professional partner in integrated mining geotechnical services—from field investigation and laboratory testing to numerical modeling and engineering-based slope design recommendations ready for direct implementation in the field
