PT DAMANKA PRIMA HYDROLOGICAL AND HYDROGEOLOGICAL STUDIES

PT Geo Labora Expert team past project with professional expertise in hydrology and hydrogeology to support mining activities, particularly open-pit mining operations. In 2024, The team conducted a comprehensive Hydrology and Hydrogeology Study for PT Damanka Prima in the Sangatta Utara and Bengalon areas, East Kutai Regency, East Kalimantan. The scope of work included hydrological surveys for identifying rivers and drainage channels, analyzing surface flow patterns, and conducting infiltration measurements using a double-ring infiltrometer in accordance with SNI 7752:2012. Water quality measurements (TSS and TDS) were performed in-situ, complemented by laboratory analysis to ensure accurate characterization of surface water quality. In the hydrogeological aspect, the company carried out the construction and installation of groundwater monitoring wells following SNI 13-4687-1998, including the installation of casing and screen, gravel-pack placement, and sealing and cementing. Team also conducted groundwater level monitoring and slug tests to determine aquifer hydraulic characteristics, including hydraulic conductivity values. Hydrological and hydrogeological data were integrated through rainfall analysis, statistical distribution assessment, rainfall intensity calculations, surface runoff estimation, groundwater inflow analysis, and the development of conceptual groundwater models for both initial conditions and Life-of-Mine (LOM) conditions.
The results of this study served as the foundation for developing technical recommendations, including the design of mine drainage systems such as open channels (ditches), mine sumps, settling ponds, and pump requirements based on hydraulic analysis and pump performance evaluation. All work processes were carried out using standardized technical approaches, verified data, and competent analytical methods.
