Expert team PT Geo Labora Indonesia successfully past carried out the Geotechnical Study for Open-Pit Mining for PT Energi Bebara Sejahtera, located in Kandau and Tapen Raya Villages, Timang District, Barito Utara Regency, Central Kalimantan Province. The project was undertaken to ensure that mining operations are conducted with optimal safety, efficiency, and technical compliance in accordance with national geotechnical regulations and Good Mining Practice requirements. The completion of this assignment further demonstrated team expert PT Geo Labora Indonesia’s commitment to delivering reliable geotechnical engineering support for safe and sustainable mining operations.

The project scope consisted of an integrated geotechnical investigation, combining surface and subsurface data acquisition. Fieldwork activities involved geotechnical surface mapping, structural geology assessment, and measurement of actual slope geometry across the mining fronts. Full-coring geotechnical drilling was performed to obtain undisturbed rock and soil samples, which were subsequently tested in the laboratory to determine the physical and mechanical characteristics of the materials. These data formed the fundamental input for numerical simulations used to assess slope stability under varying mine development conditions.

The slope stability analysis covered multiple operational scenarios—including actual conditions, mine-design configuration, and redesign alternatives—supported by a staged push back analysis to determine a mining progression sequence that balances operational safety with production efficiency. Simulation results were evaluated for highwall, lowwall, sidewall, and waste-dump zones to establish the factor of safety throughout mining advancement. Based on the analytical outcomes, team expertPT Geo Labora Indonesia formulated technical recommendations encompassing optimized slope geometry parameters such as bench height, bench width, bench face angle, and overall slope angle, supported by guidance for safe push-back sequencing and geotechnical risk mitigation.
