PT PANDU ADI DAYA INDONESIA GEOTECHNICS ANALYSIS

The expert team of PT Geo Labora Indonesia has once again proven its competence in the field of mining geotechnical studies through the implementation of previous projects with the Geotechnical Study for Open-Pit Coal Mining for PT Pandu Adi Daya, located in Dusun Timur and Paju Epat Districts, Barito Timur Regency, Central Kalimantan Province, Indonesia. This project served as a strategic initiative to ensure that mining operations are executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with national geotechnical regulations and Good Mining Practice principles. The project also reaffirmed PT Geo Labora Indonesia’s position as a trusted technical partner for sustainable mining operations.

The scope of work comprised both surface and subsurface geotechnical investigations, including geotechnical mapping, structural geology assessment, measurement of actual slope geometry, and full-coring geotechnical drilling to obtain representative rock and soil samples. All samples collected from the field were transported to the laboratory for comprehensive testing to determine physical and mechanical properties of the materials, which served as essential inputs for subsequent slope stability analyses. The technical dataset generated from the investigation and laboratory programs formed the foundation of the numerical geotechnical modeling conducted to evaluate the current and future stability of mine slopes.

The analysis was performed under multiple scenarios—including actual, design, and redesign configurations—using a push back analysis approach to develop a safe and economically optimized mining progression plan. Slope stability simulations were conducted for highwall, lowwall, sidewall, and waste-dump zones to quantify the factor of safety for each mining stage. Based on the modeling outcomes, expert team PT Geo Labora Indonesia prepared engineering recommendations for a safe slope design, including optimized bench height, bench width, bench face angle, overall slope angle, and push-back sequencing. These recommendations were accompanied by geotechnical risk-mitigation strategies and monitoring guidelines to support safe field implementation.

Through this project, Expert team PT Geo Labora Indonesia delivered substantial value to PT Pandu Adi Daya by enhancing operational safety, reinforcing geotechnical reliability across the mining areas, minimizing the risk of slope failure, and ensuring compliance with national geotechnical standards for mining. The successful execution of this work further solidified PT Geo Labora Indonesia’s reputation as a professional provider of integrated geotechnical services—spanning field investigation, laboratory testing, numerical modeling, and engineering-based technical recommendations that can be directly adopted in mining operations.
